The Poison Ivy/Oak is looking better, but it still has a long way to go. Taking a trip to Colorado soon, so I’m really banking on it getting better before then! Yikes. Perhaps high hopes.

I’ve been working with a good friends company (Capture Studios) for almost a year now. I’ve been using his gear for a long time, but this week I got my very own camera! New Canon 5DMARKII! holler!

I got the new iPhone4. I had the 1st generation iPhone for almost three years, so when it broke I was eligible for the new one! BOOM! However, the picture below shows how upset I am half the time because I drop every other phone call to “CALL FAILURE.” But it has FaceTime…sooo whose in?

For those who don’t know this, I am secretly a rap superstar. The new Drake album dropped recently and it is SICK! Yes, most lyrics may offend, but it feels so good. I’ve got the Forces. I’ve got the Specs. I wear the skinnys. And I got the Drizzy!

Mt. Evans–Be prepared–We’re Coming.

My buddies Spencer, Brandon, Matt and I are taking a trip to Colorado! I am stoked. I’m sure I’ll have plenty to blog about, but we are shooting to summit Mt. Evans and hopefully do a little whitewater rafting! I psych’d.

I met Katie & Lindsey awhile ago through friends and at random events. Well this past week they introduced me to something that I have never done before. Karaoke. It’s true. Overnight Update.

I woke up this morning to this…and I am pretty sure this is really gross. I don’t like taking antibiotics, but they need to make better medicine for this kind of thing. Feels like it’s only getting worse! NSJS (not saying, just saying…).

Anyone a doctor or nurse out there willing to give some advice?

I don’t know how Uma Thurman did it. I’ve had poison ivy for roughly a week now and for those who have had it, I am sorry for never taking you seriously. I didn’t think it was a big deal. UNTIL NOW…It itches, it hurts, it swells, it weeps, it burns, it itches some more and it gets infected really easily. And to those who haven’t had it yet, SMART. Keep up the strong work! I’ll say a little prayer that you don’t run into Uma Thurman any time soon.

I had some free time today between work and hanging with a buddy who lives down the road from work. So, I had this brilliant idea and I brought clothes to work to change into, then I wouldn’t have to run home. After I changed, I had a few minutes of free time, so I sat down at a computer. Low and behold a buddy of mine is walking by and asked me what I was doing at the computer. I kindly told him that I was about to write a blog.

“YOU BLOG?!” he asked, in the surprised, I’m judging you right now, kind of way.
I laughed and said, “Yep.”
“Well is it any good?” he replied.
And not knowing how to answer that, I nervously answered, “No, it’s a bunch of crap.”
He said, “Oh, so it’s just like another twitter account for you.”
“Something like that,” I said, defeated.

Studio Fun Shoot.

Over the past few months I have had the extreme privilege of sharing studio space with some of the coolest, most real people I’ve ever met. They are all extremely gifted photographers and cinematographers and have been a strong encouragement as I have been pursuing a similar lifestyle. This past Tuesday, while everyone else was hard at work, I meandered my way to a corner of the studio and attempted to take some pictures of my new hairdo. It wasn’t long before someone asked what I was doing. After my explanation, everyone had a good laugh and the camera was appropriately taken out of my hands by my friend Brandon. And what was suppose to be self-portrait/set the timer and run over to your spot type shoot, was turned into a…lets use this huge light box, expensive camera, and throw NIBs at you mini photo shoot!

I just got a text from my step-dad on his new iPhone. Yes, you read that correctly. Not only can my dad text, and quite well I might add, he also has a nicer phone then his son, which should be against the universal law of cell phone use. His text read, “Just a reminder, tomorrow is Armani’s birthday, don’t forget!” Armani is my dog that I inherited from the family back home. This text raised a level of concern in my mind and I think rightfully so. My step-dad just turned 50 years young and he is keeping track of my dog’s birthday? And not only that, but he ends the text with, “don’t forget!” As if my dog is going to hold some type of grudge against me if I don’t get him another bone or tennis ball that will eventually find its way under my bed or buried in the back yard. Just before I hit call on my 1st generation iPhone, another text message came up. Turns out it wasn’t father figure. Instead, it was my 10 year old sister Kendal making sure I didn’t forget the most important day of the year for my dog. I quickly went from feeling slightly concerned to, “aww that’s cute.”

Still one question remains. What do you get a spoiled dog for his birthday?

Feeling Inspired.

I’ve been inspired to start blogging again. All it took was a little reading while waiting to switch my laundry from the washer to the dryer. I just finished chapter 3 of Donald Miller’s book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. It has me upset that I stopped blogging in the first place. It feels good to have things written down on the #cyberwebspaceplace.

I’ve forgotten a lot of life stories that have happened since my last blog and I its late so I’m not going to try to remember them. I just wanted to show…

So here is the real reason I visited Vegas. I went out to check out the Las Vegas Metro Police Academy. My buddy Wade graduated from the academy last summer and now is on patrol in the Las Vegas area. I flew in to visit, hang out and get a feel for what it would be like being an officer. It was a great time. I had the privilege of doing a ride-along with Wade one night and it was a phenomenal time. We started out at the station where he showed me around. Then we jumped into a patrol vehicle and hit the streets. Little did I know that for the next ten hours, we would be busy the entire time!

This is a picture of Wade as we are waiting down at the jail for some paperwork to be done. We started out the afternoon with a few traffic stops and transporting a prostitute down to the city jail. It was a whole different world at the jail. It was interesting because a lot of the individuals in there asked if I was an undercover cop, to which Wade told them I was, which made everything that much more interesting/terrifying. That wasn’t all we got into though. We responded to a wide variety of calls ranging from a teen who wrapped himself in plastic wrap and was wondering the streets, to a man with a gun threatening to kill! It was a completely different city then Minneapolis.

It wasn’t all business though. We managed to have a lot of fun outside of work too! He showed me Fremont street in downtown Vegas, where some of the first casinos were built. It was also home to the world’s largest TV (it’s in the picture above, the big white roof looking thing. All the lights would go out and it would play something on it every half-hour or so.). After that we went down to the main strip…but that’ll be another blog for another time!

Believe it or not there are plenty of things to do in Vegas outside of gambling! I know it shocked me too! In fact, one of the days I was out there Wade and I took it upon ourselves to hike up to the top of a mountain. To my shock, even though it was 96 degrees in Vegas, there was still a bunch of snow up in the mountains surrounding the city! There was even a ski slope on the other side of one of the mountains! After we got to the top I snapped a few pictures. The view was incredible and the pictures do it no justice what so ever!

In the first picture above you can see the houses that were at the base of the mountain. They were absolutely huge! They all had multi-level porches and huge windows! The second picture above is looking down into the valley through the mountains. You can’t really tell from the picture, but you could see the tip of North LasVegas from where we were on the mountain! To put the temperature change into perspective, when we left Wade’s house it was 96 degrees, when we got to the base of the mountain it was 70 degrees, and when we got to the top of the mountain it was much colder then that even! It was so cool to experience the temperature change by driving 15 minutes!

More to come on my Vegas trip! Including pictures of the famous Vegas Strip, professional stray painters, sinking ships, and an amazing yogurt place!

Trip to Vegas via Frontier Airlines = ‘+’

Las Vegas, or “Sin City” as some jokingly call it. Until recently, I have had little desire to go there. I’m not a big fan of deserts, I don’t gamble, not a party animal, and I haven’t had any sudden urges to get married by Elvis. However, in the last year, my desire to visit has grown ten fold. You see, my buddy Wade works for the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, one of the busiest police departments on the map. And ever since I can remember, I’ve had the desire to be a cop. Could this be my opportunity or my calling? I’m not entirely sure, but I wanted to go see what it was like and maybe find out, so I did.

I flew out to Vegas last Sunday on Frontier airlines. I knew immediatelyupon sitting down that it was going to be a good trip. Not only was the Frontier flight cleaner, more comfortable, and more relaxed then any other flight I have ever been on, but the individuals in charge of designing the the seats at Frontier decided to provide each coach passenger with their very own gift in the headrest of each seat. These ‘gifts’ that were provided for us each had a variety of different visuals that could be displayed in a 3″ or so area. If you haven’t caught on, there were TV’s in the headrest of each seat-back. DirectTV did promos with Frontier airlines and provided a variety of different channels to watch while you were waiting to take off and for the first 30 minutes of the flight (to continue watching for the rest of the flight it was $6). Needless to say, I watched quite a bit of Discovery Channel on my way to Las Vegas (can you name the show in the picture?).

That wasn’t all the trip out had in store. At my lay-over at the weird and crazy looking Denver Airport, I met a World War II Veteran named Raymond (on the left) and he told me some old war stories and how he was having one nasty time with keeping the bears off his property back home just outside of Denver. When I told him I was headed to Vegas, he got a big grin on his face and told me to have myself a good old time. ha Kind of makes you think if old Raymond made a few visits to Vegas himself back in the day…

When I got to Vegas, Wade picked me up from the airport and dropped me off at his buddy’s house that he was house watching/dog sitting for. He had to head into work so I got to hang with Dakota and play some PS3 till he was back. It was my first PS3 experience, XBOX360 still has my vote. And me and Dakota (the dog) bonded quickly!
